Dr. Ying Zheng (郑莹) (Chemical and Biochemical Engineering)
Dr. Ying Zheng, Professor at Western University and Canada Research Chair (Tier I), is a world-renowned expert in the field of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering. She has made pioneering contributions to research in the design of catalytic processes/materials impacting the field of renewable energy and decarbonization. Her research has had international and practical application in the design of processes to produce green diesel from non-edible lipids, convert agricultural/forestry waste to advanced hydrocarbon biofuels, develop catalysts for fuel upgrading and facilitate renewable and clean energy catalytic conversion.
Dr. Zheng is also a dedicated educator who has trained 88+ graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research engineers who now placed in influential positions in industry and academia. Her endeavors in promoting women in engineering and a professional working environment have been well recognized.
